Objective

Science majors take a number of subjects using computers during their undergraduate studies, but virtually all such subjects are taught using serial computers. Rarely, if at all, do science majors have the opportunity to learn in a parallel computing environment. This project is to establish a PC-cluster and the accompanyng software environment that would allow students to learn how to compute using a parallel computer architecture. New lecture and laboratory modules will be introduced into existing computational science subjects to give science students experience in parallel computing.Honours projects that require parallel computing will be supervised. In this way future graduates will be able to enter Hong Kong's workforce ready to tackle complex problems on parallel computers.
