| The Faculty of Science, since its first year of teaching in 1961, has grown and evolved in response to the positive demands from society and in support of its student population. The Faculty continues to lead in the provision of science education, with its graduates taking up careers in a diversity of professional settings. |

| 1985 |
- The University and Polytechnic Grants Committee asked the College to close down the programme in Civil Engineering
- The Faculty was then renamed as Faculty of Science
|
| 1986 |
The first cohort of students of Bachelor degree programme, BSc (Hons) in Combined Sciences with majors in Applied Biology, Applied Chemistry, Applied Physics and Mathematical Science, were admitted. The programme was reaccredited by the Hong Kong Council for Academic Accreditation in November 1991. |
